The Wilmington Church of the Brethren’s vision is “Serving God with Loving Hearts, Open Arms and Helping Hands”. We welcome you to join us on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am for worship and fellowship.
We believe following Christ means following his example of serving others, healing the broken, and bringing new life and hope to the despairing. Jesus calls us to move with him into the neighborhood (John 1.14) as instruments of God’s reconciling love (2 Cor. 5.17-20).
The congregation is serving….
The Church of the Brethren, begun three centuries ago in Germany, still draws people who want to continue Jesus’ work of faithfulness and loving service.
The first meeting of the Wilmington Brethren Church was held in a home in Wilmington in 1916. In 1926, three lots on Belmont Avenue were purchased and on April 6, 1926. Brethren broke ground to build the church on 27 Belmont Avenue. The Wilmington Church of the Brethren was organized in 1927. The congregation is fully incorporated within the Atlantic Northeast District of the Church of the Brethren. ANE-COB
The congregation has a long history of serving the community. In 1967 the Wilmington Church of the Brethren started a community outreach program in Richardson Park. Later, the Wilmington Church of the Brethren along with other Richardson Park Churches organized the program as the Richardson Park Community Action Program. The churches served the organization and donated resources to address the needs of community families for fifty years.
